who are LITTLE GIANT FINANCE?

Based in the epicentre of Melbourne's CBD, we are a finance broking firm with a dream team of experts who know the home, business and private lender markets intimately.

The LGF Team are genuine, hard-working, and experienced finance professionals, who care deeply about getting their clients the absolute best financial options.

Our goal is to help any individual or business who needs it. Whether you're growing, contracting, buying, selling, or just want to ensure you're on the best possible interest rates, we are here for you.

We know what banks need to approve your loan and pride ourselves on ensuring the application we make is almost certain to be approved, and we will do whatever we can to minimise any input and time required from you.

Our point of differentiation is our strong technical experience around complex loan structures and helping clients through difficult situations.

The breadth of our services extends to all forms of finance and is sourced via a combination of big banks, business banks, second tiers, non-banks, Fintechs, and private lenders.

Steven Whiteside | Managing Director

Steven brings over 20 years of commercial and personal finance experience to the table, with an intricate knowledge of lenders in every corner and crevice of the Australian finance market.

Starting out as a Graduate for NAB Business in Perth, Steven developed into a hungry Senior Relationship Manager and was eventually awarded a spot in the the Star 100 (Top 100 Business Bankers in Australia) at NAB Business in 2015 before shifting into Finance Broking in Feb 2016, taking a role with one-stop shop professional services firm BlueRock.

Over the next 9 years he wrote over $600 million in transactions for business owners and their directors, before branching out in October 2024 to form Little Giant Finance with his business partner Jenny.

Known to many of his clients as a Finance Doctor, Steven has the acumen to quickly diagnose both business and personal financial needs, prescribing the right solution every time - competitively priced loans with the minimum of stress.

With over a decade of experience in residential lending, Jenny brings a solutions-driven approach to helping clients achieve their financial goals.

Her career has been built on a deep understanding of both lender processes and client needs, ensuring every deal is structured for success.

Jenny began her finance journey with Aussie Home Loans, where she developed a strong foundation in lending and customer service. She then transitioned to the lender side, taking on a desk-based BDM role at Resimac, where she built valuable insight into credit processes and relationship management.

Jenny later joined BlueRock, where she further honed her skills working alongside business owners, investors, and professionals on complex finance strategies.

Frequently asked questions

Here are some of the questions we get asked regularly. Please contact us for anything else that's on your mind!

Do you charge a fee?

No, you will likely not be charged a fee for our services. We are paid directly by the lender we refer your loan to the month after settlement.

Effectively we are 'freelance employees' for the finance market and are paid commission by the lenders instead of them employing a sales person.

With residential home loan finance, your interest rate and fees should be identical to the most competitive rate you would be able to secure directly with a bank. Normally the rate we get you should sharper than going direct, as we are able to secure special discounts given our knowledge of competitor rates.

If your particular situation is complicated and requires a large up front investment of time on our side, or if it is expected your home loan will be paid out and closed in full 'within the first 12-18 months' of the loan being established, then we may seek to charge a Work Fee for our time and service.

We will not charge for a Home Loan Pre-Approval, which normally lasts for 90 days. If you haven't found/bought a property after 3 pre-approvals (270 days) then we will charge a work fee of $500+GST for the 4th Pre-Approval, which will be reimbursed to you if you buy/settle a loan within the next 90 days.

How long will the loan application process take?

Home Loan finance typically should be approved between 24 hours to 5 working days from the formal lodgement of the application (with all necessary supporting information).

We pride ourselves with knowing exactly what the banks require (and don't require) to ensure the approval is as swift as possible with little or no rework or follow-up questions.

Business, Commercial, and SMSF loans can take a bit longer than standard home loans, and are dependent on banker work loads. They typically could take between 1-2 weeks and could even take up to 4-5 weeks, depending on the bank and if a major valuation is required (e.g. for a large construction project).

I’m a first home buyer, what incentives can I access?

At present there are numerous First-Buyer Incentives available.

These include the First Home Buyer Grant ($10,000 in Victoria) which is only for new properties, the Stamp Duty Waiver or Concession (for purchases up to $750k in Victoria), and the recently expanded First Home Buyer Scheme, where you can borrow up to 95% of the purchase price excluding Stamp Duty, with No LMI (Lender's Mortgage Insurance) required, provided you meet certain criteria and don't purchase for too much.

Which lenders do you work with?

Our aim is to connect you to close to every worthwhile lender in Australia. There are over 15 home lenders we regularly go to (big banks, 2nd tier and non-banks), plus we work closely with the Private and Fintech markets to ensure there is always a way to get you the funding you need.

All up we have access to more than 60-70 Australia lenders and we may suggest splitting your lending between them.
